BAJURA, JULY 15

Nepal government has started to offer grant amount to landslide and flood victims of Bajura for construction of their houses.

Chief District Officer Gopal Adhikari said the grant amount would be offered to 232 families for buying land and house reconstruction.

He said Rs 50,000 would be offered to each household for construction of temporary huts. CDO Adhikari added that Rs 300,000 would be offered to households that did not have land and Rs 500,000 for construction of houses.

Assistant Chief District Officer Samir Bhandari said Rs 500,000 would be offered to each family for reconstruction of houses even if they have land. A family will receive Rs 850,000 to buy land and build a house. Likewise, Rs 550,000 will be provided to each family for house construction. However, families that own house and land in some other places will not get the grant amount.

Bhandari said the grant amount would be distributed as per the work procedure.

He said the families had to be recommended by all the nine local levels of Bajura, and work would be carried out by National Disaster Risk Minimisation and Management Authority.

The government has released budget of Rs 6.7 million for construction of houses of 232 families. The DAO said it would demand the allocated amount to buy land after the needy families were listed. The province government will offer 30 per cent, municipality 15 per cent and rural municipality 10 per cent of the amount to needy victims to buy land for construction of house.

According to the work procedure, Rs 500,000 will be offered for construction of the houses in mountainous districts, Rs 400,000 in hilly districts and Rs 300,000 in Tarai districts. Bajura lies in the mountainous region.

Badimalika Municipality Deputy Mayor Kabita Bista said the government had provided relief to needy victims.

Bhandari said notice was issued for verification of details of beneficiaries.
