Govt appoints former secretary Bhusal as CEO of NRA
KATHMANDU: A cabinet meeting on Monday, decided to appoint former finance secretary Yuvaraj Bhusal as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Reconstruction Authority.
The meeting also accepted resignation from CEO Govinda Pokharel. Former CEO Pokharel had filed his resignation on Saturday.
Earlier, the Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Centre coalition government had made the decision to appoint Pokharel as the CEO of the NRA after Sushil Gywali was fired from the post.
Bhusal made an entry to the government job as a section officer on 1980 and retired from the bureaucracy as Finance Secretary on 2014.
During his 34 years in government services, Bhusal served at various ministries including Tourism, General Administration, Local Development, Women, Children and Social Welfare, Forest and Soil Conservation, National Planning Commission among others.
Bhusal had earned his degrees on Development Plan from Dortmund University in Germany and Development Economics from the Asian Institute for Technology in Thailand.
Speaking to media, after his appointment Bhusal said he would expedite the reconstruction of historical monuments in Kathmandu among others.
"I am aware that state had handed over the responsibility in believing my capabilities and i should fulfill them strategically in short time,". Bhusal shared.
"My priority would be to bring back happiness in the faces of the quake survivors by reconstructing houses and erecting dismantled historical monuments," Bhusal added.
Bhusal, who is originally from Gulmi district currently resides in Kuleshwor of Kathmandu.
