The joint students' organisation drew the attention of the government and the university towards problems faced by the education sector.

The meeting of the joint students' organisation held in the federal capital yesterday concluded that some educational institutes were still running against the health and safety protocols set by the government in the wake of COVID-19.

The meeting expressed solidarity with the agitation being waged by students in the medical college. Similarly, the meeting condemned the suppression of agitating students in Nobel Medical College and Kathmandu Medical College under Kathmandu University.

Both the education minister and home Minister have been informed about the suppression of the agitation of medical students. Also, the government has been asked to immediately fix the date for the election of free students' union in campuses.

General Secretary of Nepal Students' Union Baldev Timilsina informed that the meeting also discussed how the new variant of COVID-19 could impact educational activities.

The joint students' organisation comprises representatives of student wings affiliated to Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre, CPN-Unified Socialist, Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal, ANNISU and Akhil (Sixth).
