“Govt committed to promotion of tourism”

KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has expressed its commitment for the development of tourism sector, which is a major basis for nation’s economy.

Inaugurating the second anniversary of gantabyanepalnews.com, Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet emphasised on the Public-Private co-operation for uplifting the tourism sector in the county.

He further stressed that the government is committed to the security and promotion of tourism industry.

Also speaking on the occasion, Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narasingha KC highlighted the need of collective efforts for developing Nepal as the world's most attractive tourist destination.

Ruling CPN-UML’s Tourism Department Chief Surya Thapa urged the government to lift the ban on touristic activities in the Upper Dolpa and Upper Mustang. The places have significant potential to become tourist attraction, he said.
