The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has expressed deep sorrow over the bus accident in Buchakot, Namobuddha Municipality-2 of Kavrepalanchok, which claimed eight lives and left 16 others injured on Friday.
The accident occurred around 2:15 pm on Friday when a passenger bus (Ba 3 Kha 8398) fell into a gorge in Buchakot, killing eight passengers on the spot and injuring 16 others.
In a statement issued Friday, the PM's Office paid tribute to those who lost their lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families, while also wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
Rescue and treatment operations were carried out immediately with the active participation and coordination of the District Administration Office, Kavrepalanchok, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, local authorities and health institutions, according to the statement. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital.
The government has directed concerned bodies to investigate the accident and identify its cause, the statement said, adding that relevant agencies have also been instructed to ensure effective treatment for the injured and provide necessary support to the affected families.
