Govt formulating new laws to implement constitution: Dahal

Nepalgunj, March 5

Unified CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said the government had already begun preparations to formulate new laws and acts for implementation of the new constitution.

Speaking at an interaction in Nepalgunj, Dahal informed that as many as 65 laws and acts were being formulated to implement the constitution.

“Preparations are in full swing to formulate new laws consistent with the new constitution. Hence, I urge all not to cast doubts on the implementation of the new constitution,” said Dahal.

On a different note, the chief of the Unified CPN-Maoist informed that he was in constant touch with the agitating Madhesi parties and their leaders. He expressed confidence that the government and Madhesi parties would soon reach an agreement on the demarcation of provincial boundaries and other demands raised by the agitating groups.

Dahal said the 16-point agreement between the parties had been leading the country in the right direction. “Had there been no 16-point agreement, the entire political process, including government formation and promulgation of a new constitution, would not have been possible,” he said.

“Political parties and the government will implement the constitution on the basis of the 16-point agreement,” Dahal added.
