‘Govt has failed to meet people’s expectation’

Biratnagar, February 23

Nepali Congress Vice-president Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has urged the government to immediately hold talks with the disgruntled parties.

Talking to mediapersons at Biratnagar Airport today, he said bullet was not a solution to any problem, and the government should create an environment to hold talks with the Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal.

He also said both the government and the Chand-led party should learn lessons from the past experiences.

He pledged support to the government in latter’s effort to find a solution to the issue through talks.

Meanwhile, he accused the Oli-led government of failing to work as per people’s expectations, adding that political parties, including the opposition party, must play an important role to bring about changes in the country. He also said efforts only from the government would not be sufficient to implement federalism.

Responding to mediapersons’ queries, NC vice president Gachhaghar said the party had already accepted secularism, and voices raised for restoration of Hindu state were not party’s official views. He, however, insisted on the need for amending the constitution to make it acceptable to all.
