Govt not keen to address UDMF demands: Thakur

LUMBINI: Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur said that the government was not serious about addressing the demands raised by the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).

He was speaking at a press conference organised in Bhairahawa on Thursday.

Saying that the Madhes movement waged by the UDMF was not over yet, Thakur clarified that the Front had just withdrawn some protest programmes like general shutdown, strike and border blockade.

The TMDP Chairman said that multiple rounds of talks held with the government have become futile just because of the government.

He stressed that the next round of talks with the government should be meaningful and result-oriented.
