Rautahat, September 22:

All government offices and financial institutions were shut in Rautahat and Bara today to protest the murder of Mohan Mainali, an officer of the Parsa District Administration Office.

Issuing separate press releases, Nepal Madhesi Civil Servants’ Forum (NMCSF), Nepal Civil

Servants’ Union, Nepal National Employees’

Organisation, Nepal Civil Servants’ Organisation and the employees of Gaur Municipality demanded action against Mainali’s killers.

Activists of Sanyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha had killed Mainali on Friday.

NMCSF Rautahat’s president Pramod Kumar Jha said work in the government offices were closed in the wake of deteriorating security situation. He demanded the government provide security to all government employees and compensate Mainali’s family.

Meanwhile, civil servants struck work in Bara district and organised a sit-in on the premises of the District Administration Office today as well. Employees of Bara Chambers of Commerce and Industry expressed solidarity with the agitation.
