Govt promoting impunity: Mahat

Nepali Congress leader Ram Sharan Mahat today said the incumbent government was promoting impunity in the country.

Talking to the journalists at a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union, Ramechhap, at headquarters Manthali, Mahat said that the government had started imposing totalitarianism by meddling in the affairs of bureaucracy.

He asked the party leadership to take the responsibility for the debacle in the polls. Stating that lack of internal management in the party was one of the leading causes for party’s loss, Mahat asked the party rank and file not to lose hope and be optimistic.

Mahat stated that his party would support and protest the government depending on its merit and demerit.

Indicating to the release of Bal Krishna Dhungel, Mahat claimed that impunity had grown in the country.

Mahat also stressed the need to improve their provincial and local level governments’ capacity.  Mahat said his party had led all the momentous political changes in the country.

He underscored the need to take both India and China into confidence to garner support for Nepal’s development and prosperity.

Mahat said preconditions for the investment should be in the interest of the country.
