KATHMANDU, JUNE 06
The government has decided to revoke its decison to provide two days holiday on Saturdays and Sundays.
A meeting of the council of ministers held today decided to overturn its decision to provide two off-work days each week, which will come into effect from June 15.
Earlier, on May 9, the government had announced to grant an extra day of off each week -- on Sundays, in addition to already existing Saturday holidays -- citing fuel shortage.
However, the decision was under implementation on trial basis.
Similarly, it has been learnt that a writ petition was filed on Monday in the apex court seeking to end the government's decision of providing a two day weekend.
Advocates Ram Bahadur Shahi, Tej Bahadur Lohia, Santosh Bhandari and Trilok Bahadur Chand had filed the aforementioned writ in which they alleged the cabinet for bringing into effect the decision to grant two off-days prior to holding necessary discussions.
Meanwhile, complaints were also heard from the general public about the ineffectiveness of public services caused due to the decision.
