Govt staff halt work in districts
Protest against Yadav’s murder
Lumjung, October 30:
Government employees in various districts today protested against the murder of Prabhu Narayan Yadav, Nayab Subba at the Saptari district development committee (DDC). Yadav was shot dead by an unidentified gang on the banks of the Khando river in Saptari district yesterday .
Staffers of the Lumjung DDC today staged pen-down strike in protest against the murder of Yadav. Issuing a press release today, the Lamjung chapter of the local body employees’ association condemned the killing.
Similarly, employees at the Gaur Municipality and Rautahat DDC today padlocked their respective offices protesting against the murder of Yadav. The employees’ association in the district also handed over a memorandum to CDO Durga Prasad Bhandari demanding security for government employees.
Supervisor at the DDC, Jit Bahadur Chaudhary, said the memorandum called for declaring the deceased employee a martyr, government jobs for the bereaved family members and security for the employees.
In Udayapur, staffers disrupted work in protest against the murder. They padlocked the Udayapur DDC and Triyuga Municipality and flayed the murder, warning of launching a stir. In Morang, the Biratnagar sub-metropololis, Morang DDC and VDC offices were shut.
In Rajbiraj, Yadav’s murder was protested and work in all government offices disrupted. Employees took out a funeral procession of Yadav this afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Nepal civil servants’ union, employees’ organisation, Nepal Madhesi employees’ forum and VDC secretary rights protection committee at a joint meeting today decided to disrupt work at government offices. They have demanded that late Yadav be declared a martyr, the bereaved family be helped, the murderers be booked and security be provided for them.
Similarly, employees of the Siraha DDC padlocked their office and stopped all the work of over 100 VDCs in protest against the murder of Yadav. They also demanded that Yadav be declared martyr and abducted secretary Jiban Dhital of Chandralalpur VDC be released.
In Kaski, all work of local offices were halted today. Staffers of the Kaski DDC and Pokhara sub-metropolis discontinued their respective work.
