Govt staff’s strike on in Saptari

Rajbiraj, November 5:

Civil servants in Saptari district continued their pen-down for the seventh day in a row on Monday against the killing of Saptari district development committee employee Prabhu Narayan Yadav.

The employees also continued the sit-in outside the main gate of the DDC office putting forward their seven-point charter of demands that include stern action against Yadav’s killers, financial support to his family, and free education and upbringing of his children.

Yadav was shot dead last Monday at Bamangamakatti VDC of the district. Expressing solidarity with the civil servants’ agitation, employees in other government organizations including the banks and corporations also struck their work.

A 48-member joint struggle committee led by freedom fighter Dev Narayan Yadav has been formed to identify the killers. The committee also organized a cycle rally to mourn Yadav’s death and reached late Yadav’s house to express their sympathy for his family.

Speaking on the occasion, various personalities called for stern action against the killers.
