Govt staffer allegedly edited citizenship to prolong retirement

JAJARKOT: It has been revealed that an employee at District Coordination Committee, Jajarkot reportedly edited his citizenship to extend his retirement.

Office Assistant Ram Bahadur Dangi of Bheri Municipality apparently edited his birth-date and enjoyed eight more years in service, officials said.

Dangi’s citizenship has his birth date as January 28, 1963 whereas official records at District Administration Office show his date of birth as January 28, 1953. Moreover, his citizenship lacks a signature of the issuing officer.

In line with the discrepancies uncovered during record matching, authorities have initiated an investigation into the case, according to Chief District Officer Lalit Kumar Basnet.

However, Dangi has denied the allegations against him forcing authorities to send the evidences to science laboratory to affirm the facts.

“We will initiate appropriate legal proceedings based on a report from the laboratory on the case,” said CDO Basnet.

Dangi who was supposed to be relieved from service in 2010 worked at the office for eight more years and reaped service benefits of an office assistant.
