KATHMANDU, MARCH 5

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba pledged to take forward the Federal Civil Service Act in a timely manner.

Inaugurating the eighth national convention of Nepal Civil Service Employees Union here today, PM Deuba assured that the government was committed to addressing the issues seen during the employee adjustment process.

Deuba viewed that civil employees should be employed for national interest without discriminating them on the basis of their political ideologies, stating that civil employees should render services to the public 'with a smile'. Urging civil employees to deliver service effectively, the PM asserted that the constitution of Nepal has clearly defined the rights of the trade union.

He said that civil employees should continue implementation of government's policies and plan effectively and be committed to providing utmost support from the government to organise and revise trade unions. He argued that it was the responsibility of civil servants to make the government successful. "The civil service has an important role in democratic countries. Government employees should be loyal, honest, strong," PM Deuba mentioned.

The PM also praised employees saying that they have been working as a bridge between government and citizens.
