KATHMANDU, AUGUST 29

The National Assembly, Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee has directed the government to give high priority to the Sustainable Development Goals and carry out works accordingly.

Committee Chair Taradevi Bhatta said after the meeting today that there should be discussion and monitoring of the progress being made by the line ministries regarding the SDGs, challenges and ways to resolve the problems.

She said that the directives issued by the Committee would be followed.

The Committee meeting has decided to take initiatives towards meeting the SDGs through coordination among all the three tiers of government. The meeting also stressed the need to make the role of the local levels more effective by localisation of the SDGs. It also emphasised fostering collaboration with the provincial governments for achieving the SDGs on the stipulated time.
