"GPK can't be prime minister again"
KATHMANDU: Acting President of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala today said Party President Girija Prasad Koirala could not be the Prime Minister again owing to his health and age.
The NC leader's remarks come at a time when there is speculation at the political circle that President Koirala was assuming the premiership again. Addressing a talk programme in the capital today, he said the High Level Political Mechanism was not formed to topple the government. "The objective of the HLPM is to create an environment conducive for forging a consensus among the players to clear political roadblocks," he added. "It will be injustice to say that President Koirala is eying the PM's post."
Acting president Koirala expressed his dissatisfaction at the functioning of the government. "The CPN-UML is monopolising governance. I'll talk to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal about this soon," he said, adding, however, that his party would continue its support to the present coalition. He sought better coordination among the coalition partners in effectively running the government.
He viewed that the government had not been able to maintain law and order .
