KATHMANDU, July 28
A Taiwanese woman climber today successfully scaled Broad Peak without using supplemental oxygen, according to the expedition organizer.
Dawa Sherpa, Managing Director at Dolma Outdoor said that Tseng Ko-Erh aka Grace Tseng, 29, has scaled the 8051-metre mountain without using supplementary oxygen this morning. "She has climbed two peaks in a week without using bottled oxygen," he said, adding that she had also climbed K2 without oxygen on July 22.
Becoming the first Taiwanese to scale K2, Grace is also on a mission to complete all 14 peaks at the youngest age. "She has completed her 10th 8000er by scaling Broad Peak today," he said.
Grace was accompanied by Nepali climbers Nima Gyalzen Sherpa and Ningma Dorje Tamang, he added. Nima Gyalzen, the founder of Dolma Outdoor Expedition, also completed his 12th 8000er by scaling Broad Peak, according to Sherpa. "He will attempt to climb GI and GII to complete all 14 peaks," he said.
