Graft complaints galore

As many as 1,456 complaints of irregularities have been filed at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Hetauda regional office in the past four months of the current fiscal.

Of the complaints filed from various districts across the central region, 389 have been settled so far, while the rest 1,067 are in the investigation phase.

As per the information given at an interaction organised by the office in Bharatpur today, it had received a total of 3,095 corruption-related complaints in the last fiscal. While 1,765 of those complains were settled in the last fiscal itself, the rest are yet to be settled.

According to CIAA under-secretary Homnath Subedi, 13 irregularity cases were filed at the Special Court last year.

From Chitwan alone, 63 complaints of irregularities have been filed so far this year. Of them, investigation is under way on 33 complaints while others have been settled.

“Of the complaints, most are related with education and local bodies, and most of the complaints are from Rautahat, Bara and Parsa districts,” Subedi informed, adding that as many as 1,266 complaints lodged last year were related to education sector.

At the programme, the anti graft body’s regional chief Shankar Bahadur Thapa urged all the chiefs of the government offices attending the programme to maintain good governance in their offices.

Meanwhile, a CIAA team today monitored three school buildings in Chitwan.
