Gulmi readies for electrification

Gulmi, January 19:

The Community Rural Electrification Policy introduced by the government to boost rural communities’ access to electricity is expected to bring a sort of revolution in rural electrification in the district. Under the policy, a two-year Rs 350m project is being implemented in the country. Officials said over 70 per cent of the work under the project will be carried out in Gulmi. The project aims at fixing over 1,500 km of electric cable in rural areas, said Ram Chandra Pandey, head, Community Rural Electrification Department. Tenders have been called for work costing Rs 310m, of which Rs 230m is for Gulmi, said Narayan Gyawali, coordinator, community rural electrification consumers’ forum in Gulmi.
