Gyanendra may stage a comeback, says politico

Dang, September 8:

Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal’s general secretary Dilaram Acharya today said former king Gyanendra Shah might stage a comeback due to the incompetence of the political parties.

Speaking at a press meet organised here today by the Dang chapter of Progressive Journalists’ Association, Acharya said Gyanendra Shah might seize power if the assurances given to the people were not addressed on time. “He may not have the same strength and power that he had enjoyed in the past, but he may return to power if the political parties failed to meet people’s expectations,” he added. People should be made aware of the limitations and challenges of a republican state, Acharya said, adding that the political parties must address people’s aspiration and strengthen the republic.

Saying that people were not getting relief even after the declaration of republic, Acharya said price hike in daily commodities was taking its toll on the people.

He also informed that his party has called Nepal Bandh on September 28 to protest federalism and price hike in essential commodities.
