Gyawali rules out formation of NC-led govt

Nepalgunj, March 25

CPN-UML secretary Pradip Gyawali has ruled out the possibility of a Nepali Congress-led government anytime soon.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Banke chapter of Press Chautari today, the UML leader said, “There are a few friends who are talking about NC-led government without even thinking about the seats they have in the Parliament,” he said, adding, “Rather than a new government, there are chances of the Nepali Congress joining the current government. Our party is taking initiatives towards that end.”

The UML leader also claimed that the recent amendments to the constitution had addressed the basic demands of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front.

“On the issue of provincial boundaries, the government has formed an experts’ team with a view to settling the issue within three months,” he said.

On a different note, Gyawali said there is no point in India sulking over the transit agreement that Nepal signed with China. “In fact, we want to maintain balanced and healthy relations with both the neighbours. Neither India nor China should take this negatively,” he said. He also described PM Oli’s visits to India and China successful.
