KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 21

Nepal Veterinary Association is all set to organise a half-marathon titled 'Run for Protein' in Kathmandu next month.

Information about this was shared at a press meet here today.

The event has been scheduled for December 18.

A 10-kilometre male race, a five-kilometre female race, a five-kilometre male race for higher education students and a three-kilometre female race for higher education students have also been scheduled along with the half-marathon. According to Association Chair Dr Sitalkaji Shrestha, there will be a wheelchair race for differently abled people.

The objective of the event is to establish people's assimilation in the right to protein, increase their access to protein foods and spread awareness about the significance of requirement of protein for sound health.

The winners of half-marathon (male and female category) will be awarded Rs 100,000 each while the first runner-up will go home with a cash prize of Rs 75,000 each and the second runner-up will bag Rs 50,000 each. The fourth prize is Rs 40,000 followed by Rs 30,000 for the fifth prize.

Likewise, top five winners of the 10-km race will receive Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Similarly, top five runners for the five-km race and the wheelchair race will be given Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

Moreover, the top five winners in the three-km race will bag Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively. The registration fee for the tournament is Rs 200 per head.
