RAJBIRAJ, DECEMBER 28
At a time when Janamat Party has been hitting the streets seeking action against a ward chairperson for attacking its leaders and cadres, ward chairpersons of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality have started their own protest.
Cadres of Janamat Party have been launching protest citing that a team led by ward 11 Chair Mohi Yadav of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality had assaulted them and vandalised their programme venue on Saturday.
They have been demonstrating for the past two days.
In response to the party's protest, ward chairpersons of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality have also started their own agitation.
Today, ward chairpersons of all the 14 wards of the municipality padlocked their respective offices and handed over their keys to the rural municipality chair Shailesh Kumar Sah. They have also submitted a memorandum to the mayor demanding action against the guilty.
The memorandum has accused Janamat Party cadres of vilifying Ward 11 chair during their Saturday's corner meeting and manhandling ward 10 Chair Shrawan Mandal by entering his house.
"We filed a complaint with the police regarding the excesses of the party but as the police were reluctant to take any action, we were left with no other choice," read the statement, warning that they would continue to padlock the municipality and intensify their agitation until action was taken against Janamat Party leaders.
