DHANGADI, OCTOBER 2

Following the probe committee's recommendation for action on the charge of sexually harassing a female assistant head constable, Nepal Police's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yog Bahadur Pal has submitted his resignation.

SSP pal put in his papers after the Police Headquarters forwarded the action in line with the probe committee's recommendation.

His resignation has been forwarded for approval to the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to a source, the SSP's resignation will be approved by lifting his suspension.

However, he has got immunity from the case of sexual harassment. The sexual harassment occurred in June when the SSP, who was serving as chief of the Far-Western Province Police Office, proposed to the female head constable that they spend Friday together saying that he liked her.

After the female head constable filed a complaint, the investigation began. On the same day, he was relieved of his responsibilities. Following a preliminary investigation, the Ministry of Home Affairs had suspended the SSP.

Later, under the leadership of DIG Surendra Mainali, a high-level committee was formed to conduct an on-site investigation. After an in-depth and detailed investigation and discussion with various parties and stakeholders, it was confirmed that SSP Pal had sexually harassed the female constable.

The committee has recommended a five-grade demotion. As the police headquarters got ready to demote him, SSP Pal chose to resign. The investigation found that SSP Pal was previously involved in similar sexual harassment incidents within the police organisation as well.
