Head teacher Som Bahadur Tamang, of Dongden Devi Secondary School at Tipling VDC has been charged with embezzling fund by using fake signature of the school’s accountant, in Dhading.

A complaint was lodged against the head teacher at the District Administration Office, Tanahun seeking investigation into the case two weeks ago.

As per the complaint, Tamang had allegedly misappropriated the school’s fund several times with the use of fake signatures. He has been charged with withdrawing Rs 803,580 in the fiscal 2014/15 and 2015/16.

The locals had lodged the complaint at the administration office stating that Tamang had withdrawn the money from the bank by copying the previous accountant Sangita Tamang’s signature though Tusa Ghale has been serving as the accountant in the school for more than two years.

“Though we lodged the complaint at the DAO on July 3 demanding legal action, no action has been taken against him so far,” regretted Ghale.

However, Chief District Officer of Tanahun, Bishwo Prakash Subedi, said investigation into the case was under way. “If necessary, we can detain Tamang and investigate the incident,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tamang has been out of contact ever since the complaint was lodged against him.
