KATHMANDU, MARCH 31

The Health Insurance Board has directed all affiliated healthcare service providers to strictly comply with regulations while delivering services under the national health insurance programme.

Issuing a notice, the Board stated that it has received complaints of insured patients being required to book appointments in advance, facing discriminatory treatment, and not being provided necessary services and medicines at some health institutions. Such practices, the Board said, are in violation of the Health Insurance Act, 2017 and the Health Insurance Regulations, 2018, along with prevailing laws.

The Board has instructed all service providers to refrain from such activities and to ensure full compliance with existing acts, regulations, guidelines, and procedures. It further warned that institutions found violating rules during monitoring will face action under relevant provisions of the law.
