Health Ministry teams off to Jhapa to control dengue

Kakadvitta: In the wake of dengue outbreak in Jhapa district, separate specialist teams from the Health Ministry and the District Public Health Office (DPHO) are in the affected-zone to carry out efforts to control the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.

They are active in the district for a week.

The government has reported so far that 100 people are have been infected with the disease.

"Our team has arrived in Damak to identify infected people and seek medical treatment and destroy mosquitoes, the main source of dengue," said Jhapa DPHO Chief Devraj Karki.

Likewise, the DPHO has launched a search-and-destroy campaign to destroy mosquito larvae.

It has been observed that the Aedes aegypti mosquito bites transmit the viruses causing the dengue.
