Health post faces drug shortage
Sankhuwasabha, August 23:
A sub health post in Sankhuwasabha district has been facing a shortage of medicines. The shortage has affected patients.
According to local people, the Siddhakali Village Development Committee-based sub health post has been facing the drug shortage for a week.
“Even stock of cetamol is running out,” said Sujita Shrestha, assistant health worker at the sub health post.
The government supplies medicines to health posts for free, she said, adding that the shortage of medicines had hit patients hard.
Every day, around 25 patients of Siddhakali and Siddhapokhari villages visit the health post.
They have no option except to return home without treatment, Shrestha said.
“The government and the Sankhuwasabha District Public Health Office have not bothered to solve this problem despite repeated requests,” said Bhola Man Khatri, secretary of Siddhakali Village Development Committee.
We could not supply medicines to health posts and sub health posts because the government has not sent medicines, the District Public Health Office said.
