PHIDIM: Health workers in the district headquarters of Panchthar, Phidim have not received remuneration for the past three months.

It has been learnt that the workers were deprived of pay after the Phidim Municipality failed to provide remuneration citing lack of funds.

With the merger of health offices in local level, the responsibility of disbursing salaries to health workers was handed over to rural municipalities and municipality.

According to Account Officer Subas Tamang at District Health Office, 300 health workers in the region are yet to receive monthly salaries.

“The staffers have warned to quit their jobs,” Chief at DHO, Bhupal Shrestha said.

However, Chief Administrative Officer at the Municipality, Gurudatta Subedi said that the ministry is yet to disburse the payments.

According to Subedi, the municipality’s budget is not sufficient for making salary payments.
