KATHMANDU, JULY 22

Various parts of the country experienced rainfall after a short gap, last night.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has stated that some places of Jhapa, Kaski and Tanahun districts received heavy rain last night. Few places in Sudur Pashchim Province are also experiencing light to medium rainfall while Doti district is witnessing heavy downpour at present.

As far as the water levels are concerned, currently, Thuligaad River in Doti has crossed the warning level. The Chiuri station at Doti measured 141.8 mm of accumulated rain in last 24 hours as recorded at 12:02 pm today.

As the low pressure area of monsoon lies over Tarai region of the country, various places of Province 1, 2, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudur Pashchim Provinces are witnessing light to medium rainfall.

As per the weather forecast bulletin for Thursday, the weather is likely to be generally to mostly cloudy throughout the country today with chances of light to moderate rain at many places and chances of heavy rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places of Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province and Sudur Pashchim Province.

The same pattern follows tonight at one or two places of Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province.

On Friday, there are chances of heavy rain in Province 1, Gandaki and Bagmati Provinces.

Similarly, on Saturday, the country may receive light to medium rain overall.

Additionally, as per the advisory for the next 24 hours, there are chances of erosion, landslide, debris flow, increment in water levels in rivers in hilly regions as heavy rainfall has been forecast for Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudur Pashchim Provinces. As such, people residing in these areas have been requested to adopt necessary precautions.

The weather, not only in the country, but also globally is showing a strange phenomenon as countries like Germany and China have experienced dangerously heavy rainfall and flood in recent days leading to loss of hundreds of lives and destruction of infrastructure.
