KATHMANDU, MAY 12

Heavy rainfall was recorded in several areas across the country today.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, significant precipitation was observed in parts of Gulmi, Syangja, and Kavrepalanchowk districts. Gulmi received 56.4 millimetres of rainfall, followed by 53 millimetres in Syangja, informed meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane.

Similarly, Kavrepalanchowk recorded 39.6 millimetres of rainfall, with some areas in Panauti experiencing flooding, Lamichhane added.

Rainfall has also been reported over the past hour in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces. Rain-laden clouds are currently covering Chitwan, Makawanpur, Bara, and Parsa districts, bringing rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

As the weather system continues to move eastward, the Department has urged the public to remain cautious of potential rainfall-induced disasters.

Looking ahead, the Department forecasts rain in hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Bagmati provinces on Tuesday, while hot weather conditions are expected to persist in the western Terai.
