KATHMANDU, JULY 13

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast generally cloudy skies across the country today, with continued monsoon activity bringing widespread rain.

According to the MFD, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in many hilly areas and a few other regions across Nepal. There is also a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali Provinces. High mountainous regions may witness light to moderate snowfall or rainfall at a few places.

Tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning expected at some places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, and heavy rainfall possible at one or two locations in Koshi and Gandaki Provinces.

In the Kathmandu Valley, skies will remain partly to generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers throughout the day and night. There is a 40% chance of rain in the afternoon and 30% chance at night, DHM predicted.

The country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds. The monsoon trough is located near the average position in the east and slightly north of the average position in the west.

The Department has urged residents, particularly in areas with steep terrain and poor drainage, to remain alert for possible floods, landslides, and waterlogging, especially in regions expecting heavy rain.
