Heavy storm blows away 125 temporary shelters in Dolakha

Dolakha, April 18

A heavy storm blew away 125 temporary shanties of earthquake victims at Simigaun, Gaurishankar Rural Municipality in Dolakha today.

According to District Police Office Dolakha, heavy and continuous storms from 7:00am to 1:00pm ripped apart temporary shelters of victims of the 2015 earthquakes in far-flung Simigaun.

“We only came to know about the incident on Monday evening, and a team was sent to the site to take stock of the damages inflicted on Tuesday morning.

Now, a police team from Rolwaling Police Post and another police team from the Area Police Office Singti have reached the incident site to help the victims,” said an officer from the Area Police Office Singti.

The 2015 earthquakes had displaces hundreds of people in Simigaun. They were forced to live in flimsy makeshift shelters for the last two years. Foodstuff and other daily essentials will be transported by helicopters to help the victims as the place does not have road access.
