As the country gears up for Visit Nepal Year-2020, new hiking routes have been unveiled in Kavre.

With the initiative of a member of the federal Parliament Nabina Lama, the hiking route to Temal was inaugurated last week. The hiking route starts from Chapakhori of Temal Rural Municipality-7 and ends at Tongsom Kunda Lake in Yangbel through Pokhari Narayansthan.

“Visitors hiking on the route can observe natural beauty of the places along the trail and learn about the local culture and life,” said Rehnjen Dorje Foundation Chairperson Lila Bahadur Lama.

Ward No 2 Chairperson Timalsingh Tamang of Temal Rural Municipality conveyed his full support for promotion of the hiking route. “To promote the route, we plan to develop various attractions such as parks, welcome gates and temples while there are plans to construct a Tamang museum, an International Tamang Park and a statute of Gautam Buddha, which will be the tallest in the world,” said the ward chair.

Simultaneously, another hiking trail from Panauti to Namobuddha was also inaugurated, with Lama’s initiative. The 10-km hiking route links the historical city of Panauti to Namobuddha via Sunthan and Shaikhu.

Meanwhile, Kavre-based Nepali Army Bishnu Dal Battalion is all set to unveil a ‘unification trekking trail’ by connecting all the trails that former king Prithvi Narayan Shah had used while unifying various small kingdoms into the unified country of Nepal.
