Himalayan Air Festival kicks off in Pokhara

POKHARA: A two-day paragliding festival—Himalayan Air Festival-Garuda Fun 2015— has kicked off in Pokhara from Saturday.

With the view to promote tourism, a two-day air festival kicked off in Sarangkot of Pokhara from today.

The festival was organised by the Nepal Air Sports Association (NAA) in coordination with the Pokhara Tourism Revival Committee (PTRC).

Adviser as well as coordinator of the NAA Natasha Shrestha informed that the fiesta was organised with a view to promote the hard-hit tourism sector after the devastating April 25 earthquake.

General Secretary Basanta Raj Dawadi of the NASA informed that the carnival would help to spread a message across the world about the improved condition of Nepal after the massive earthquake.

Among 53 paragliding companies, only 45 are being operated in Lake City, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) informed.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Kripasur Sherpa inaugurated the festival.
