BAJURA, OCTOBER 28

People from the Hindu and Muslim communities jointly celebrated Dashain festival at Kotilagaun in Budinanda Municipality of Bajura.

Of the 200 families in the village, 22 households are from Muslim community. They celebrated Dashain festival with tika and jamara with fun. The residents of three toles in the village gathered in Tikathali and celebrated the festival. Locals said that Hindus and Muslims have jointly celebrated Dashian in Kotila receiving tika and jamara from elders like in previous years. Khudabox Miya reached Teenthali and attended the Dashain programme on the Vijayadasami day. Miya in his 84th year is the eldest person in Kotila. He received tika and jamara from people of the Hindu community. Not only Miya, but the youths and children, among other people from Muslim community, have received tika and jamara and exchanged Dashain greetings.

Another local Saijan Miya said that the festivals in the community were common among the community dwellers and the festivals had brought happiness and joy in the houses. "We reached Tikathali to receive tika and Jamara and participated in the programme," he said. He further added that the people from Hindus community attended the programme organized by Muslims and the people from the Muslim community participated in the festivals greeting exchange programme organised by Muslims.

A local, Narendra Shahi, said that the people from the Hindu community have equally participated in Eid, Bakar id among other festivals. Sahijad Miya said that they reached the mosque with musical instruments and received tika in the mosque.

There are 22 families are from Muslim community in Kotila of Budinanda Municipality.
