Police have arrested nine individuals, including four foreign nationals, in connection with a series of theft incidents reported across Pokhara, Kaski police said Saturday.
Those arrested include Indian nationals Rahul Nishad and Somnath Hanumant Jadhav, and Chinese nationals Wen Ji and Wang Lanyin. The remaining suspects are Rajkumar Bik, 42, of Syangja; Keshav Paija Magar, 51, of Pokhara Metropolitan City-16; Khim Bahadur Chhetri of Annapurna Rural Municipality-7, Kaski; Ashok Pokhrel of Arghakhanchi; and Anil Bik, 27, of Baglung.
According to the District Police Office, the arrests followed an extensive investigation into thefts across Pokhara in recent months. Police said they recovered cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones, laptops, watches and other valuables from the accused.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Kumar Paswan said the suspects have been remanded into custody after the Kaski District Court granted an extension for further investigation. The group is being investigated under charges related to theft and robbery.
