Historian and litterateur Chittaranjan Nepali was felicitated on the occasion of the 122nd birth anniversary of Sardar Rudra Raj Pande in the Capital on March 10.

According to a press statement issued by the event organiser Rudra Raj Sewa Samiti, Nepali was honoured for his contribution to the history of Nepal.

Dr Badri Raj Pande, Founding Member of Sardar Rudra Raj Sewa Samiti, informed that Nepali has made remarkable contribution to the history and literature of Nepal through his research, which have introduced the country and people to historic figures like Bhimsen Thapa, Jung Bahadur Rana, and Rana Bahadur Shah. He also penned researched-based literary books like Ma Lumanka (first epic poem in Nepal Bhasa), General Bhimsen Thapa ra Tatkalin Nepal, Junga Bahadurko Katha, Shree Paanch Rana Bahadur Shah: Bektitva ra Shasanka, Parivarik Shadyantra, Dr Badri Raj shared.

He also informed that Nepali has so far been honoured with prestigious literary and civil awards including Madan Puraskar for General Bhimsen Thapa Ra Tatkalin Nepal, Shrestha Shirpa Puraskar , Subha Rajya Avishek Padak, Durgam Sewa Padak, Janapad Sewa Padak, and Janapad Dirga Sewa Padak, among others.

The press statement quoted historian Prof Dr Triratna Manandhar as having shed light on the contribution of Sardar Pande in the field of education, history, literature and spirituality.

Dr Govinda Tandon, as convener of the award committee, spoke on the contribution made by Nepali in the field of history, the press release noted.

Prof Dr Suresh Raj Sharma, first Vice-Chancellor of the Kathmandu University, reminisced the formative days of Tribhuvan University where Sardar Pande was in the leadership role as its Vice-Chancellor.
