KATHMANDU, JANUARY 6

Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak has reiterated the government's commitment to safeguarding the nation's territory and borders.

Highlighting the State's responsibility to protect its land, he assured that the government is taking a sensitive and proactive approach toward this objective.

Speaking at the House of Representatives' State Affairs and Good Governance Committee meeting today, Minister Lekhak addressed concerns regarding the farming activities by Indian citizens on land belonging to Shuklaphanta in Kanchanpur.

He stated that the government is fully aware of the use of Shuklaphanta National Park's land by Indian nationals and has drawn serious attention to the matter. Diplomatic talks are underway to resolve the issue.

While confirming that there is no border dispute in the area, the Minister acknowledged the need for the installation of border pillars. He assured that efforts are being made through bilateral mechanisms to establish the required markers, emphasizing the government's dedication to protecting the nation's land.

The session began with Committee members Raghuji Pant and Dilendra Prasad Badu requesting the Home Minister's response to the issue of Indian citizens utilizing land within Shuklaphanta National Park.
