Home minister vows action against smugglers

Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa today said the government would take stern action against all those involved in gold smuggling.

Speaking at a press meet jointly organised by Press Chautari, Morang and Press Centre, Morang, in Biratnagar, Minister Thapa said as the investigation into the gold smuggling case was under way, nobody involved in the racket would be spared.

Meanwhile, addressing a province level security symposium in Biratnagar today, Minister Thapa said the government was committed to ending all kinds of syndicates. “There is syndicate and cartelling in education, health and other sectors also. The government is committed to ending all such malpractices in near future,” said Minister Thapa. He said the government was determined to curb such irregularities and ensure development and prosperity in the country.

“Though infrastructure development and other construction related work is looked after by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, the home ministry is always ready to coordinate with the MoPIT to curb all kinds of irregularities.
