Honey production increases in Dang

DANG: Honey production has increased this year as compared to previous year in Dang district.

According to Bishnuraj Shrestha, Chair at Federation of Nepal Beekeepers in Dang, honey production has increased by 100 tonnes this year as compared to previous year. “A total of 320 tonnes of honey was produced this year.”

Shrestha said that bee keeping farmers harvested honey up to three times this year.

As per the information provided by the Federation, there are 15,000 beehives in the district and 650 farmers are involved in beekeeping.

Of the total production, the district consumed only 20 per cent honey. Shrestha said, “The honey produced in Dang is exported to Kathmandu, Pokhara, Itahari, Butwal, Syangja, Palpa and Nepalgunj.”

Honey is being sold at Rs 400 per kg in the district.
