KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 2

Honorary Consul for Seattle in Washington State, AC Sherpa has announced his candidacy for the post of vice-president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).

Sherpa, who has as well served as Deputy Regional Coordinator (Americas) for the NRN's International Coordination Council, is attempting to secure a win in the election that is scheduled during NRNA's tenth world convention happening next month.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday, Sherpa said that he wanted to lead the organisation to maintain its transparency, financial discipline and resource development as well as to address other cross-cutting issues.

"My goal would be to promote NRNA as well as to deepen the ties between the American people and Nepali communities residing in America," he shared.

A resident of Solukhumbu district, Sherpa is a mountaineer and has already scaled all the highest peaks in seven continents including the Mt Everest. He has also been serving the needy communities in remote areas through the 7 Summit Foundation.

For 2021-2023, NRNA is going to elect a new 39-member executive committee, which is also called International Coordination Council, virtually next month.
