DAMAULI, FEBRUARY 1
Senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel today expressed confidence that the House of the Representatives would be reinstated.
Addressing a protest rally organised by Nepali Congress' sister organisations in Damauli, Paudel reiterated that the Parliament would be revived as Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had dissolved the Parliament unconstitutionally.
He, however, said that his party would respect the Supreme Court's verdict on the dissolution of the House of Representatives case.
"The constitution does not give the right to the prime minister to dissolve the Parliament. Therefore, the House will be reinstated,"
Paudel said. He hoped that the justices of the SC would abide by the statute and help strengthen the constitution and democracy.
He slammed Prime Minister Oli for his unconstitutional step and argued that he had invited his own downfall.
Paudel said that his party would always fight for change and democracy. He warned of bringing down a storm of agitation to restore people's rights and political gains.
