Hospital quarters vacated after firing
Nepalgunj, February 4:
The doctors and other staffers staying in the quarters of the Bheri Zonal Hospital in Nepalgunj have vacated their rooms after the bullets fired by the security forces from Nepalgunj Prison and Field Ambulance of the Royal Nepalese Army hit the quarters on Thursday night.
Dr Suresh Kumar Nag has moved out of his quarter while health workers Arjun Shah and Dilli Oli have also vacated their quarters. Some other doctors and health workers are planning to move out of the hospital quarters.
Those still staying in the quarters also don’t sleep in their rooms but prefer to sleep inside the hospital.
Staff nurse Laxmi KC has already sent her children to her home. There are bullet holes in the walls of the quarters of Dr Nirmal Gyanwali and Dr Surendra Sapkota. “Though the distance between hospital and quarters is only 200 meters, we cannot even go to the hospital from our quarters during night because of present situation,” the doctors said. “We are spending nights in the hospital.”
Medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Usha Shah, has asked high-ranking police and RNA officials not to open fire in the hospital premises.
Human rights activist Suresh Gautam said the incident of firing inside the hospital is unfortunate.
