In the wake of growing complaints about negligence in treatment of COVID patients, the COVID Action Team has started monitoring hospitals in Birgunj, Parsa.

The team formed by youths met the kin of COVID patients and health workers to collect information about how COVID patients are being treated. In case any shortcomings or negligence are seen, the team will inform the authority concerned about the same.

The team, which had played a significant role in controlling and preventing the contagion and helped the infected during the first wave of COVID-19, has swung into action again responding to the gravity of the situation.

Just yesterday, the team visited Narayani Hospital. Besides the usual monitoring, the team also distributed snacks to 150 virus infected patients and their kin at the hospital.

"We had taken milk, bread and eggs. We handed over the snacks to Dr Saroj Roshan, who is the hospital's COVID coordinator," said CAT member Tabarej Ahmad, who is also the district secretary of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal.

Today, the team visited the temporary COVID hospital run by the National Medical College at Baba Hostel in Birgunj metropolis. According to CAT member Shyam Patel, the hospital was grappling with oxygen shortage.

Further, CAT has said it will draw the attention of political parties of the district and other authorities concerned to the problem.
