House can’t declare republic: RPP
Birgunj, May 16:
Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Pashupati Shumsher Rana today said the interim parliament cannot declare the nation a republic. Addressing a press meet organised by the RPP (Parsa), Rana said people will not accept such an announcement.
Announcing the launch of his party’s CA poll campaign, Rana said the RPP will raise issues of Madhes during the campaign. Rana called for a scientific demarcation of constituencies in the Madhes.
“People’s rights should not be curbed. A republic cannot be declared by the interim parliament,” Rana said.
Pointing to activities of Maoist cadres, Rana said: “A conducive environment for the CA polls cannot be created if a party continues to attack police posts even after joining the government.”
