House unlikely to have business on statute revision

Kathmandu, February 20

In spite of wide assumption, the Parliament meeting slated for tomorrow after 16 days gap, is unlikely to have any business related to the constitution amendment bill.

According to a tentative work procedure published by the Parliament Secretariat , two bills related to pays and perk of judges of the Supreme as well as judges of High and the District Courts will be tabled at the House.

Likewise, the annual report of the Legislation Committee will be tabled in the House tomorrow. Similarly, the  House will also table the investigative report  on the impeachment motion against   Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority  Lok Mansingh Karki prepared by the Committee of the House. Karki’s appointment was dismissed by the judiciary while the motion proposal was under discussion in the House.  “We did not find any evidence of the government’s effort to discuss with any other party the agenda of tomorrow’s House meeting” said Subas Chandra Nembang, deputy leader of CPN-UML parliamentary party.

Kamal Thapa, chair of a ruling coalition partner Rastriya Prajatantra Party told THT that the government had not done any serious home work. We will oppose the constitution amendment bill if the government tries to pass it with some contents that are objectionable for us “he said.
