HSEB scholarship fails to draw quake-hit students’ interest

HETAUDA, July 10

Not a single student has approached the District Disaster Rescue Committee Makawanpur to get recommendation for scholarship with residential facility announced by the Higher Secondary Education Board. HSEB had on June 25 announced that students of quake-affected district would be provided with scholarship and called on all concerned to apply for the same.

Assistant CDO Chandra Bahadur Karki said that not a single quake victim student had come to the District Disaster Rescue Committee seeking recommendation. Today was the last day for submitting applications for the scholarship, however, the HSEB has given seven more days.

Meanwhile, Janardan Bastola, chief of HSEB office in Hetauda, said that only two students had come to his office to inquire about the scholarship scheme. A source at the HSEB said that recommendations from schools and District Disaster Rescue committee would qualify the quake victim students to apply for the scholarship. Similarly, eleventh and twelfth graders need to show SLC mark sheets.
