Human rights mobile camp for quake survivors
CHAUTARA: The National Human Rights Commission has set up a human rights mobile camp in Sindhupalchowk, the most-affected district by the April 25 earthquake.
The mobile camp was established in order to protect and promote the human rights of the quake survivors in the district. NHRC member Prakash Wasti inaugurated the camp by ringing a bell right at 11:56 am on Tuesday, commemorating the time that Nepal was hit by the devastating earthquake three months ago.
A total of 3,553 people lost their lives while 95 per cent of the houses were brought to ground by the earthquake in Sindhupalchok district, according to Chief District Officer Balabhadra Giri.
NHRC member Sudip Pathak, Nepal Bar Association Chair Harikrishna Karki and NGO Federation Chair Sharmila Karki shed light on the importance of the mobile camp.
The NHRC is planning to set up such camps in all the 14 highly affected districts by the quake.
